Professional Bio
Laurel Nava is the Deputy Executive Director at CITE (California IT in Education), which serves as the professional association for public K-12 technology professionals across California. In her previous role as Director of Education Programs & Partnerships, Laurel oversaw the development of professional programs and led advocacy initiatives on behalf of CITE’s membership. Prior to joining CITE, she was a Program Associate at the California Comprehensive Center within WestEd, a nonprofit organization, where she supported the California Department of Education (CDE), State Board of Education (SBE), and local educational agencies with professional development, process improvement and implementation, and evaluation services.
Since 1999, Laurel has contributed her expertise in organizational development, policy, and event coordination to various public entities, including TechEd Events, the City of Sacramento, and the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA). Her additional competencies encompass financial analysis, quantitative and qualitative research, and project management. Laurel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities & Religious Studies and a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) with an emphasis in collaborative governance.
